Commonly known as the snow crocus because it is one of the earliest crocuses to bloom. The Crocus is native to Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and the former Yugoslavia.

This plant is one of the most widely grown spring plants – not surprising with its low maintenance appeal and deep violet colour.

This plant needs well drained soil and grows well in full sun or partly shaded sections of the garden. This plant does not perform well in poorly drained soil so a solution is to add sand to your soil to improve drainage.

Plant in lawns, under trees, scattered in rockeries and gives great effect when grouped together enmasse.
